On May 6th, 2015, the Vietnam Memorial “The Moving Wall” will arrive at the Walk of Heroes in Conyers, GA. Sponsored by the Rehorn Foundation, The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for over 30 years. Now, as we stop to reflect on the 40th anniversary of the End of the Vietnam War, The Moving Wall will be available for our local veterans, schools and families to see.
The Moving Wall offers an opportunity for education, healing and reflecting and will be the centerpiece of the 40th Anniversary Observance/End of the Vietnam War program that will be running at the WOH from May 6th through the 12th.
This event honors all men and women that served in the US Armed Forces from August 1st, 1950 until May 7th, 1975, regardless of where they served. This observance program include static displays of Vietnam War era helicopters, and an unique “Through The Eyes Combat Photography” display. All displays are educational, interactive, and free to the public.
Beginning at noon on May 7th, the park and all displays will be open 24 hrs a day until noon, May 12th.
While this event is not a fund raiser, commemorative tee shirts and lanyards will be available.
As an Instructor with the US Naval Sea Cadets, I am very much looking forward to bringing some of our Cadets out to attend one of the memorial ceremonies while the wall is at WOH.
